Best Launch on Bellaire
Fisherman's Paradise is the primary public launch on Lake Bellaire — concrete ramp, dock, vault toilet, and 30+ trailer spots (64 total parking). Open 24 hours. It's the one everyone uses and it's well maintained. Located on Fisherman's Paradise Road off the road down from Shanty Creek.
Shallow Water
The defining issue here. Multiple reviewers across many years report shallow conditions at the ramp. The launch is not dredged often and a sand bar builds up at the ramp mouth. At least one boater had to walk their boat in and out. A 24-foot jet boat made it through, but deep-V hulls over 20 feet may struggle. Check conditions before committing with a larger rig.
Parking Issues
The parking area has been described as having huge holes full of water. No trash cans on site — not even in the restroom. Pack out what you bring in.
Water Trail Trailhead
Designated trailhead on the Chain of Lakes Water Trail. Launch here and paddle the Intermediate River north toward Bellaire, or the Grass River south toward Clam Lake and Torch Lake. Kayakers and paddleboarders use this as a starting point for both routes.
River Access
From this launch you can run both the Intermediate River and the Grass River by boat. The Grass River heads south through the Grass River Natural Area toward Clam Lake. The Intermediate River heads north into Bellaire. Both are navigable but watch your depth.
