Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Crowding
Expect company on summer weekends. The single ramp is the bottleneck — when an inexperienced launcher gets stuck backing down, the whole site waits. Weekday mornings are your best bet for a quick launch.
Layout & Maneuvering
The lot is a pull-through loop, which makes maneuvering with a trailer much easier. Two rows of trailer parking plus a vehicle-only row near the water.
Boat Size
Best for smaller boats. If you've got a larger rig, head to Torch River Bridge or Torch River DNR Access at the south end where you'll get two lanes and paved parking.
Kayak & Paddlecraft
No dedicated kayak launch, but the small sandy beach east of the ramp works fine for putting in a kayak, SUP, or canoe. Rocky for the first five feet or so, then sand bottom.
Hazard
Watch for poison ivy on the east side between the parking area and the beach.
The Beach
The beach area is a nice bonus — some people come here just to swim and hang out. It's small but charming, with a picnic-friendly vibe. Just know that on busy days you're sharing the waterfront with trailers backing down to the ramp.
