Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Road Is Rough
The access road has crater-sized potholes that can swallow a tire — go slow, especially with a trailer. After a wet spring, some sections get soft enough to get you stuck. A vehicle with decent clearance is a must.
Small Boats Only
This is a canoe, kayak, and small johnboat launch. The ramp is unpaved gravel and dirt with no dock, so you're muscling everything in by hand. Don't even think about bringing anything over 16 feet here.
Parking Disappears Fast
Five trailer spots is generous — it's more like three usable ones. On a weekend morning you might find it full already. Locals know you can park over by Castaways if you're in a pinch, but that's not exactly convenient.
Good Fishing Access
The Kawkawlin dumps right into Saginaw Bay about a mile west of the Saginaw River mouth, so fish stack up in here. It's a solid spot to get a small boat into the river system without dealing with the bigger, more crowded launches on the bay. Just don't expect any amenities.
