Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Carry-In Only
There's no boat ramp here — this is a carry-down access point for kayaks, canoes, and small inflatables. You walk about 3-5 minutes through a wooded path from the campground to the river. Forget about anything you can't shoulder-carry.
Downed Tree Hazard
The run from Graves downstream to Webster Bridge is littered with downed trees and sweepers. This is an ungroomed natural river, so you need to know how to maneuver around obstacles quickly. The current moves and the channels are narrow — not a place for first-timers in a boat.
No Trailer Parking
There are zero trailer spots and the road in is tight enough that a 26-foot camper barely squeezes through without scraping trees. If you're hauling anything wider than a small truck with a kayak rack, plan accordingly.
Livery Traffic Conflict
Canoe and kayak livery groups use this as an exit point, so if you're wade fishing, head downstream from the put-in to avoid the constant parade of rental boats pulling out. Late July brookies are small but plentiful down that way.
Fills Fast In Season
Only about 10 campsites and no reservations — it's first-come, first-served and fills up fast during summer weekends. If you're planning to camp and paddle, arrive Thursday or early Friday. The campground also gets some road noise from M-66, which is closer than you'd expect.
