Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Four Wide Lanes
Four lanes with separate docks make this one of the better-organized launches on Lake Charlevoix. Even on a Saturday morning in July, you can usually get in without a long wait — though the 44 trailer spots will fill by 9 AM on holiday weekends.
Ironton Ferry Heads-Up
The Ironton Ferry crosses right nearby, so if you're coming from the west side, you'll share the road with ferry traffic. It's charming until you're trying to back a 22-footer through a line of tourists. Come from M-66 if you can.
South Arm Access
This launch drops you into the south arm of Charlevoix, which maxes out around 58 feet. Great for walleye and smallmouth without dealing with the big-water chop you get in the main basin. If you want the main lake, plan on a decent run north.
Ramp Condition Solid
The concrete is in good shape and the grade is gentle enough for two-wheel-drive trucks. Water depth at the end of the ramp holds up well through the season — I've never had issues even in a dry September.
Tie-Down Spot
There's a designated tie-down parking area near the water, which is a nice touch if you're launching solo and need to park your trailer, then walk back to secure your boat. Not many DNR launches around here have that.
