Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Single Lane Bottleneck
One lane for the whole lake, so weekend mornings from about 9-11 AM turn into a circus. People pulling in and out at the same time with no room to pass — just expect to wait your turn and don't be surprised if someone cuts the line.
Watch Spring Levels
Water levels can drop significantly in spring, especially by mid-May. I've seen the ramp get sketchy shallow near the bottom end. If you're running a deeper-draft boat, check conditions at the ramp before committing — you don't want to scrape.
Sandbar Social Scene
There's a popular sandbar where boats and jet skis congregate on warm weekends. Fun if you're into it, but it tightens up navigable water and the wakes can get messy. Steer wide if you're fishing.
Surprisingly Clean Facilities
The bathroom here is actually well-maintained compared to most DNR launches in the area — a rare treat. Parking is solid too with 22 trailer spots, which handles normal weekday traffic fine but gets tight on holiday weekends.
Fishing Expectations
Don't come here expecting a trophy haul. The lake is beautiful for cruising and hanging out, but the fishing leans toward undersized bluegill. Bass are around but not in great numbers. It's more of a recreation lake than a fishing destination.
