Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Ramp Capacity Mismatch
Two lanes for a Lake Michigan launch — it works most days, but on a busy Saturday morning in summer you'll be waiting behind a few trailers. The 38 trailer spots fill up faster than you'd expect given the size of the facility.
Winter Access Quirk
There's a separate winter access point southwest of the main launch. Don't roll up to the summer ramp in January expecting to get through — you need to swing around to the other entry or you'll be turning your rig around in the snow.
Northeast Bay Overflow
There are 17 vehicle-only spaces tucked into the northeast bay area. If you're dropping someone off or fishing from shore near the bait shop, park there and leave the trailer spots for folks launching.
Walleye Gateway
This is your ticket to Little Bay de Noc walleye fishing, which is legitimately some of the best in the UP. Proximity to bait and tackle right at the launch makes it a convenient staging point — gear up and go without extra stops.
