Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Shallow At Ramp
The concrete ramp looks decent but it's shallower than you'd expect. If you're running anything over 20 feet, plan on getting your tires wet — possibly up to the wheel wells. Smaller boats and kayaks are no problem.
No Dock, Period
There's no dock here at all, so loading passengers and gear means wading or getting creative with your boarding. If you're solo launching a bigger boat, it's a real hassle. Something to plan around, not discover on arrival.
Parking Is Tight
Only 3 trailer spots, but honestly on most days that's enough — this lake doesn't draw big crowds. Memorial Day weekend and you can still get in and out without a wait. Peak summer Saturdays are the only time you might compete for space.
Quiet Panfish Lake
Long Lake is a pan fish and pike lake, not a bass destination. You'll catch numbers but don't expect trophies. Water clarity is excellent, which also makes it popular with divers and kayakers looking for a mellow day.
Closed In Winter
The launch shuts down for winter, so don't plan any ice-season trips expecting ramp access. It's administered by Fort Custer State Rec Area, and there's a $7 launch fee — keep cash or a Rec Passport handy.
