Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Shallow At The Ramp
The concrete ramp looks decent, but it's shallower than you'd expect. If you're running anything over 18 feet or with a deeper draft, plan on getting your tires wet — possibly up to the fenders. Back in slow and steady.
No Dock, No Help
There's no dock here at all, so loading and unloading passengers or gear means wading or getting creative with your trailer position. Solo launching a bigger boat is a real pain — bring a buddy if you can.
Parking Is Deceptive
Twelve trailer spots sounds tight, but the lake flies under the radar enough that you'll usually find a spot. Even Memorial Day weekend it's not packed. That said, a hot July Saturday morning could fill it — get there by 8 AM to be safe.
Quiet Panfish Lake
Long Lake is a panfish and pike destination, not a bass lake. The water is clear and it stays low-key compared to the bigger Grand Traverse area lakes. If you want peace and a full livewell of bluegill, this is your spot.
Closed In Winter
The launch shuts down for the winter season, so don't count on it for late-fall or ice fishing access. There's also a $7 launch fee, which is easy to miss if you're not expecting it — bring cash.
