Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Parking Is Tricky
There's no real designated trailer parking at the launch itself. You can squeeze maybe two trailers along Jerumbo Street, or use the Township hall lot nearby. On busy weekends you'll be circling — figure out your parking plan before you back down the ramp.
Watch For The Fee
There's a $10 day pass or $30 season pass, but the signage is practically invisible. Manistee police will ticket you $40 without hesitation — they don't give warnings. Pay before you leave the lot, even if you have to hunt for the pay station.
Ramp Itself Is Solid
Single lane but wide enough that two smaller boats can launch side by side if you're friendly about it. Concrete is in good shape, and the approach is easy — no steep grade, no tight turns. You're close to the river mouth and Lake Michigan, so it's a quick run either direction.
Salmon Season Madness
This spot gets hammered during the fall salmon run. The limited parking turns into a real bottleneck, and the fishing pier fills up with shore anglers at first light. If you're launching during September or October, get there before 6 AM or plan to wait.
Nice Extras For A Small Launch
Clean restrooms on-site and a small fishing pier — unusual for a launch this size. Good perch fishing right off the dock if you want to wet a line while waiting on your crew. Views of Manistee Lake from here are genuinely worth a minute of your time.
