Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Not a Ramp
There's no actual boat ramp here — no lanes, no trailer parking. This is a carry-in or drift-out spot only. If you're floating the Manistee in a canoe, kayak, or drift boat, it works great as a takeout. Don't show up expecting to back a trailer down.
Drift Boat Sweet Spot
This is a solid pull-out point for drift boats working the upper Manistee. Shallow enough to wade to shore and drag your boat up. If you're planning a float from somewhere upstream near Grayling, Yellow Trees makes a logical endpoint.
Deep in the Boonies
You're way out in state forest land here — no services, no cell signal worth counting on, just an outhouse and a clearing. The access road is unpaved and can get rutted in spring. Know exactly where you're going before you head in, because signage is minimal.
Wading-Depth Water
The river runs shallow at this spot — knee-deep in a lot of places during normal summer flows. Great for wading and cooling off, but it also means you're not launching anything with real draft here. Stick to flat-bottomed boats and inflatables.
