Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Dead Man's Curve
The driveway dumps out onto US-12 right at a nasty blind curve. You're pulling a trailer into fast traffic with limited sight lines — take an extra beat before turning, especially heading east. Coming back in can be just as tricky.
Chain Access
Allen Lake connects to a small chain, which is the real draw here. You can run through to the other lakes by boat, and kayakers can push even further. It's a quiet chain overall — don't expect big water or heavy traffic.
Don't Expect Trophies
The fishing across this whole chain runs small. Lots of dinks, not many keepers. If you're just looking to bend a rod and enjoy some peace, it works. If you're after size, head to one of the bigger Lenawee County lakes instead.
Low Stress Launch
Single lane, 15 trailer spots, but it rarely matters — this place doesn't see much pressure. The ramp is clean and the grade is manageable. Weekend mornings you might share it with a few kayakers, but I've never had to wait here.
Hayes State Park Managed
Being part of Hayes State Park means it stays in decent shape compared to some of the neglected township launches around Lenawee County. Just know that on summer weekends, the park itself gets busy — the lake stays quieter than you'd expect though.
