Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
No Real Ramp
Don't show up expecting a concrete boat ramp — there isn't one. This is a carry-in launch for kayaks and canoes only. You're sliding off the bank into the Huron River, so plan accordingly.
Parking Is Tight
There are no designated trailer spots, and the handful of pull-in spaces near the launch fill fast. People jam in wherever they can, blocking each other in. If you're hauling anything on a trailer or bed extender, park farther back and walk it down — you'll save yourself a headache.
Seasonal Hour Flip
Watch the hours — they reverse from what you'd expect. You get the early 4am access from Labor Day through Memorial Day, but in peak summer it doesn't open until 8am. That can burn you if you're planning a sunrise paddle in July.
Great For Paddlers
If you're putting in a kayak or canoe, this is a solid quiet-water spot. The river here is calm and not too snaggy, which is nice if you're running an inflatable. It's part of Proud Lake State Rec Area, so the scenery is worth the trip.
