Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Shallow at Ramp
The water at the end of the ramp is not deep — if you're running a bigger boat with a deeper draft, you'll want to power-trim up and be ready to work a bit getting off the trailer. Mid-to-late summer when levels drop makes it worse.
Summer Congestion
This launch shares the area with a swimming beach, picnic spots, and volleyball courts, so in summer it turns into a zoo. Weekday mornings are your best bet. Weekend afternoons you'll be jockeying with beach traffic just to get your trailer through.
Wind Off the Lake
The northwest end of Lake Cadillac is exposed and the wind rips through here with almost no warning. Loading and unloading on a gusty day means your boat's going to drift on the dock — bring a long line and tie off before you pull the truck around.
Nice Amenities Though
Credit where it's due: the docks are solid, the 46 trailer spots are designated trailer-only so beach-goers aren't stealing your parking, and the remodeled restrooms are actually clean. For a city-run launch, they keep it together better than most.
Bass Fishing Draw
Lake Cadillac has been hosting kayak bass tournaments in 2024 and 2025, so expect tournament traffic on event weekends. The lake fishes well for bass overall, and you can run through the canal to Lake Mitchell if Cadillac gets too pressured.
